After two and a half seasons spent on the bench of Lupa Promotion Novi Zagreb,
Vladimir Ivankovic decided to resign from the head coaching duties and remain in the club solely as the team president. Zeljko Ciglar has been named as the new head coach.
Ciglar is the prominent women basketball expert with the rich head coaching career. He was
a head coach of Croatian and Slovenian NTs, as well as the head coach of the teams such as
Gospic, Sibenik Jolly, Merkur Celje, Medvescak Zagreb and Univerzitet Pristina (Kosovo).
Last summer Ciglar coached Croatian cadet NT to silver medal in European Chamionships.
Here is a short statement he released after joining the respectable club:
“In only two seasons Lupa graded itself into a respectable club led by always agile basketball enthusiast Vladimir Ivankovic. Personally I espect that good and dedicated work, together with Lupa’s other strenghts will move the club on even higher level and hopefully we will become one of the premium women teams both in Croatia and broader region.”
Lupa Promotion’s PG Ana Cacic, SG Irena Cuncic and F Kristina Benic have been invited into a Croatian NT training camp for the upcoming European Championship. SG Jovana Vukoje has been invited into Serbian NT for simular purposes. Zrinka Brkljacic has been listed on Croatian junior NT roster.
