An introduction to the Erasmus+ program, Alliance of Amateur Basketball Referees (AoABR) consortium members, activities, and events have been made to the participants of the event – BC Cedevita Junior (Zagreb, Croatia) cadet and junior selections, alongside their respective coaches.
Then, a general overview of the most important AoABR Training module features and specifics have been made. A short discussion about the project’s specific value followed, with emphasis on its potentially significant role in changing the future European amateur basketball landscape.

Project “Alliance of amateur basketball referees” is implemented by Sport Club “Tvrdjava” – Amaterska košarkaška liga – AKL from Serbia in partnership with Barcel’hona Sports Events from Spain, KOM 018 – Club for Youth Empowerment 018 / Klub za osnaživanje mladih 018 (KOM 018) from Serbia, Association for promotion of sports “CroHoops Amaterska Košarkaška Liga” from Croatia and Aps Asd Margherita Sport e Vita from Italy in the period 01.06.2022 – 31.05.2023.
General goals of the project is to foster transnational cooperation the field of amateur basketball.
Objectives of the project are:
– To develop new methodology for the education of amateur basketball referees
– To provide young athletes, students, amateurs and recreational players with skills and competences of basketball referees at the amateur basketball competitions
– To form Alliance of amateur basketball referees
Project will provide set of skills for referees in the basketball, especially focusing on young players offering them an alternative after finishing their career in the basketball. Working with amateur sports is more and more popular and massive and it needs to find qualified persons who will be specialized only for these sorts of sports, like that is case with people who are engaged from official sport alliances.
Considering that 40% of basketball players in the world are amateur basketball players and semi-amateurs project will also result in the formation of Alliance of amateur basketball referees.
Project is financed by the European Union (ERASMUS-SPORT-2021-SSCP).
