Although one of the most talented Euro juniors and Croatian NT future force signed the preliminary contract with Bilbao (ACB) and recently settled to train with the Split squad led by ex-Maccabi center Nikola Vujcic, his not to distant future remains unclear until upcoming FIBA arbitration commission decision whether his contract with Zagreb CO is still valid.
Zagreb CO GM Ivan Bozanic claims that Saric is still their player and if the FIBA officials decide his contract with Zagreb CO is still valid he could become unavailable for any domestic competition in the next four years. Both Cibona and Cedevita officials are unanimous that the price that Saric’s father Predrag put up for his son was way to high.
For instance Cedevita Zagreb could have had Saric on it’s roster but for the overall price of signing veteran forward Predrag Suput and coach Bozidar Maljkovic.
Saric, who is 18 at the moment, is facing career decisions Drazen Petrovic had to face when he was 19 years old, back in the summer of 1984. Hopefully he will chose wisely.
